Windows says “Windows protected your PC” (SmartScreen)
This warning appears for apps that Windows doesn’t know yet. With our launcher it is a false positive caused by the anti-cheat.
Click “More info”, then “Run anyway”. To be sure the file is untouched, compare its SHA-256 checksum with the one on the downloads page (when shown).
My antivirus blocked or deleted a file
Some antivirus programs flag the anti-cheat as suspicious. Add the Project Legacy install folder to your antivirus exclusions, then download the file again.
You can also check any file on VirusTotal first.
I can’t open the .rar file
The game build comes as a .rar archive. Open it with a free tool such as 7-Zip or WinRAR and extract it into the folder you chose for the installation — don’t just run files from inside the archive.
The installation fails or stops halfway
Make sure the drive has at least 25 GB free and that the game build was fully extracted into the same folder as the launcher. If the extraction reported errors, download the file again.
Playing & performance
I can’t join a match
Check the live match status on the home page. You can join while a match is “Open to join” (during the countdown) or “Waiting for players”. When it says “In progress” you have to wait for the next match, and “Offline” means that server isn’t running right now.

It says “Waiting for players” — how long will it take?
A match starts once enough players have joined; the match status shows how many are needed and how long it usually takes. Invite a friend — a party is always let in together.
The game crashes or won’t start
Update your graphics drivers, close overlays and other heavy programs, and check that your PC meets the system requirements. Also make sure the game build is fully extracted — a half-extracted archive is a common cause.
If it keeps happening, tell us your PC specs and what you see on Discord.
I get low FPS or stutter
Install the game on an SSD, close background programs and lower the graphics settings. The recommended specs are on the downloads page.
My mouse feels different from the current Fortnite
Season 4 uses a different sensitivity scale. Use the sensitivity converter to match your current settings.
